Kenyan Newspapers

There are several newspapers in Kenya. Call them dailies if you will. Despite it all, there are those newspapers that are more popular with the public than others. Kenya is a developing country. That does not mean that there is no competition in the publishing industry. This article will mainly focus on the online presence(websites) of these newspapers.

Popular newspapers in Kenya

1) Daily Nation

Currently, the most popular newspaper is the daily nation. Daily nation’s official website is www.nation.co.ke. This is mainly due to the fact that it was among the first newspapers to be launched in Kenya and survived upto date. According to Wikipedia, daily nation has the most sales in terms of copies. More than 150,000 copies have been sold. Additionally, Alexa internet also shows that Daily Nation is among the top 10 visited websites in Kenya. Clearly, the facts are solid.

2) Standard Media

The standard is the second most popular newspaper in Kenya. However, it takes the third position after Google and Youtube in the spot of most visited websites in Kenya! That is not a small feat. Daily nation’s website takes the fourth place after the standard website. However, the competition at the top is fierce and this positions keep on changing from time to time. More or less like the four seasons of the year in the land of our Distant Friends in the west. The Americans. 🙂

3) The Star

The star is the third-most popular newpaper in Kenya. Sadly, it doesn’t get as much attention as the first two newspapers listed above. Visit the-star website.

Other notable newspapers are Taifa Leo and Business Daily.
